Project Description

On May 6th, Attention won a Danish Design Award for the design and devolopment of a pay-as-you-go solar panel together with M-PAYG. The prepaid solar energy system gives low-income households in developing countries access to solar energy through small-scale mobile money installments of 35 DKK/month.

The jury said:

“Just under half of the global growth in electricity production in recent years has come from wind, sun, biomass and other renewable sources. The transition to green energy is well underway, but how to bring in the developing countries? Attention takes on this challenge with their democratic concept for access to solar cell energy for small companies and private consumers. So far, the solution has been implemented in several places around Tanzania. A visionary design project that utilises the sharing economy and takes both the climate crises and the major challenges of unstable power supply in developing countries seriously, thus generating big changes in everyday life for the people involved.”
